Prague Hosts European RSG Meeting

In April, Prague became a place where technical assessment approaches and a unified interpretation of rules for recreational craft are being shaped. A meeting of the Recreational Sectoral Group (RSG) took place, bringing together notified bodies operating under the Recreational Craft Directive 2013/53/EU.

This is where interpretations of requirements are aligned, practical experience is shared, and approaches to the assessment of increasingly innovative craft are discussed. This year’s discussions focused, among other things, on practical experience with PCA (post construction assessment), notified body supervision during testing of Annex II components, essential safety equipment (such as liferafts), and the implications of the upcoming AI Act for the recreational craft sector. Possible amendments to the future revision of Directive 2013/53/EU were also discussed.

More than 30 representatives of notified bodies gathered in Prague, alongside representatives of the European Commission and the ADCO group (market surveillance authorities) — so there was certainly no shortage of topics to discuss.

We are proud to be part of it. Active participation allows us to keep pace with developments — and sometimes even help shape them.
